With no moving parts, the Model D-602 Manual Autocollimator is one of the easiest autocollimators to use for aligning a mirror normal to the line of sight within one arc second. The entire 20-inch folded path optical system is built into a light compact package.
Features:
Low cost
Rugged construction
No moving parts, so no wear
Compact folded design makes alignment easy
Easiest to use for rapid mirror alignment in two orthogonal planes
Two axis capability
20 arc minute measuring range
Dark field projected reticle reduces eye fatigue
Accurate to 1.0 arc second
The circular rings of the reticle shown above indicate alignment errors within the 20-arc minute range. In the example shown, the misalignment is 3'10" Azimuth, 2'15" Elevation. The reticle has four 15-arc second center rings and ten outer one-arc minute displacement rings numbered 1', 5', and 10' to simplify simultaneous readings in two orthogonal axes.
The Model D-602 Manual Autocollimator is often used as a collimator or alignment target for a telescope or theodolite. It can also be used to determine rate table angular settings, potentiometer linearity, tool alignment, or for aperture sharing. Three-point support, with an adjustable rear foot for elevation, simplifies initial alignment.
